Experience and Education

As a Certified Professional Nanny and 2018 International Nanny Association Nanny of the Year Nominee, Katie has worked with several families in home as a full time educator and caregiver. Katie has a long history of working with children. Included among her many child care experiences, she:

  • ran a daycare off her back porch over summers in Jr High

  • worked as a camp counselor

  • was a student aide for an elementary student with special needs

  • taught fifth grade catechesis

  • worked part and full time as a nanny

  • worked as a mother's helper

  • worked alongside stay at home parents and work from home parents

  • was a leader, educator, and board member in a local 501c3 not for profit providing parent education

  • led a nanny round table How to Talk so Kids will Listen and Listen so Kids will Talk class

  • interned at a daycare

  • taught classes to nannies and parents

  • lectured at conferences including Nantional Nanny Training Day and Nannypalooza

  • trained as a postpartum doula with three sets of newborn multiples

Fully committed to providing the best care she can give, Katie regularly attends continuing education events, conferences, and classes. Katie has taken classes in child development, care, and education at both DePaul University and Oakton College. She is a graduate of the English Nanny and Governess School where she obtained the title of Certified Professional Nanny and Newborn Care Specialist. Since leaving school, Katie has added Certified Postpartum Doula, Child Passenger Safety Technician, Volunteer Babywearing Educator, Babywearing Consultant, INA Credentialed Nanny, and NANNYGUARD to her list of titles.
